Starting February 1, 2026, the UAE Media Council has introduced a new law that makes it mandatory for social media influencers and creators to have an Advertiser Permit. This rule applies to everyone creating promotional content within the UAE, including citizens, residents, and visitors. One of the biggest changes is that the permit is required for both paid and unpaid promotions, which means you need it even for gifted items, barter deals, or free reviews.

The government created this law to make sure digital advertising is professional, transparent, and honest. If you do not follow these rules, the consequences are serious, with potential fines reaching up to Dh1 million.
This regulation is part of the Federal Media Law No. 55 of 2023 and covers all digital platforms like websites, blogs, and social media apps. For UAE residents, the council has made the permit free for the first three years to help everyone transition smoothly.
